Taiga, Granite and Harbor are the “trinity” of storage services at NCSA and offer state-of-the-art storage capabilities tailored to users’ needs and budget.

Primary use cases:
- Taiga is NCSA’s high performance global file system, which is integrated with all non-HIPAA compute environments. Provides users with high performance storage for active data.
- Granite is NCSA’s tape archive system, closely integrated with Taiga, to provide users with a place to store long-term archive data.
- Harbor is NCSA’s all-NVME home directory and software storage system for enterprise data.
Technical Specifications:
- Taiga: Data capacity of 25PB, a maximum throughput of ~150GB/s, and is based on DDN’s EXAScaler platform, running Lustre 2.15.
- Granite: Built using a 19-frame Spectra TFinity tape library outfitted with 20 LTO-9 tape drives and can hold over 300PB of replicated data. Runs Versity’s ScoutFS/ScoutAM archive management system.
- Harbor: Two Ceres DBox VAST system, capable of ~80GB/s and millions of IOPs. Users each get a quota of 100GB/750,000 inodes.
